Sex Life Influenced by BPA

When you think of sex life influences BPA (Bisphenol-A) isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, a five-year study of factory workers has linked poor sperm quality to food and drinks, in cans, plastic bottles, and other products.

The study of 514 factory workers in China, conducted by investigators from the research division of Kaiser Permanente, a leading US provider of health care and not-for-profit health plans, reported an adverse association between BPA and semen quality. .

Lead author Dr.De-Kun Li, a reproductive and perinatal epidemiologist at Kaiser Permanent’s Division of Research in Oakland, California and colleagues,  have also found that exposure to high levels of BPA at work increased risk of reduced sexual function in men.

Li said the findings may point to problems beyond the male reproductive system: semen quality and male sexual dysfunction could be an early sign of disease. These would include both metabolic conditions as well as cancer.

So making sure you stay young and healthy  may be a matter of where your food is stored.  The future of foods may hold the key to the future of your sex life. It looks like your libido is a function of modern day living. Beverages in bottles, and canned foods may be the reason for a low sperm count and a poor sex life.

Among the men who work with BPA, the risk of having difficulty ejaculating was seven times greater than in the non-exposed group. The risk of erectile problems was more than four times greater. The BPA exposed group also reported a higher rate of a low sex drive.

Remember,  these men were exposed to BPA Epoxy resin used in the lining of canned foods which is another source of BPH in addition to plastics. The findings are consistant with the hypothesis that BPA, can minic the effects of estogen and may block male sex hormones (including testosterone).  Animal studies have also shown this effect.

The factory workers in China were exposed to a much larger dose then we would get from the bottles, cans, and other goods, but it still shows that consumers are in danger. We use BPA plastic bottles, canned foods, and other plastics that are capable over time of exposing us to a substancial amount.of BPA. We have been using these products  for a long enough time for it to have exposed most of the population to enough for some concern.

The unwanted side effects of BPA are a clear and present danger. BPA shows up in the urine of boys. We may be counteracting the normal hormonal balance in boys.

We know diet, stress, and hormones affect sexual drive and function. Modern living is sometimes accompanied by unwanted side effects. Staying clear of BPA is not as easy as one would like. Consumers are exposed to plastics in so many products that it doubtful that there is a comfortable recommended level that can be guaranteed safe.

Since we think that technology will solve all our problems, this is one that may present enormous opportunity and usher in an era of new breakthroughs in alternative reproductive techniques.

Sex in the City

Living in the city seems more conductive to an active sex life. The reason may be that there are more activities and people than in rural communities. The close encounters one has in the office, on the street, shopping, and at events can facilitate this.

The city is an environment where there are more potential opportunities to meet people. The social process in the city is different than in rural areas. People are drawn to a metropolitan area for its restaurants, clubs, theaters, and other social meeting places. High rise apartment buildings, town houses and condominium make up the city’s landscape. Many residents are young adults starting out.

Business networking and professional organization make meeting people essential. In fairness to rural dwellers, city folk may be too tired for sex after working 60 hour weeks. However, the experience of city life has the right ingredients for long days and naughty nights. What dominates daily life is the immersive experience of the social scene.

Getting into the mix and getting noticed is much easier where there are lots of people. City dwellers usually have a game plan when they are on the hunt for some loving. The complexity of city life presents more opportunities for some creativity in the way people meet.

Meeting is not confined to the office, workshop, conferences, and company parties. Every time you step out the door you are mastering the art of meeting people. Opportunity is found at all the watering spots, cultural events, and even while getting the mail. The city is a place where the numbers are in favor of connecting for some hot steamy nights.
