McGill University Starts Study on a Way to Block HPV Transmission Using Divine 9 Personal Lubricant

McGill-logo-x200

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control considers HPV the most common sexually transmitted disease and estimates at least 20 million Americans are currently infected with the virus.  Worldwide, approximately 257 million women are infected with HPV according to the World Health Organization.

While most HPV infections are cleared by the body naturally, those that do not can cause cancers of the cervix, anus, vulva, vagina, penis, tongue, tonsils and throat. Virtually all cases of cervical cancer are caused by persistent infections by specific types of HPV. The World Health Organization lists cervical cancer as the second-leading cause of female cancer fatalities worldwide, accounting for more than 250,000 deaths each year. More than 85 percent of these cases occur in developing countries. In addition to the cancer concerns, certain types of HPV cause genital warts on both men and women.

“To date, the options to fight the spread of HPV have been limited,” explained Michael Swor, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Divine Corporation.  “Vaccines do not provide protection for women already infected by HPV and only work against either two or four of the more than one hundred HPV types, depending on which of the two available vaccines are used.”

Divine 9 Personal Lubricant

As a result, the National Cancer Institute and McGill University have been seeking a different method for preventing the transmission of HPV from one partner to another.  A research team at the National Cancer Institute has conducted both in vitro (laboratory) and in vivo (animal) studies and found Divine 9 with Carragel, a commercially available personal lubricant, was highly effective in inhibiting infection rates.  The possibility that Divine 9 with Carragel, applied before sexual contact, can block the transmission of HPV would be a breakthrough with worldwide medical significance.

McGill University’s Division of Cancer Epidemiology has just announced a large-scale, double-blind human trial on the ability of Divine 9 personal lubricant. The study is called CATCH an acronym for Carrageenan-gel Against Transmission of Cervical HPV, and will involve tracking HPV infections in over four hundred female volunteers for a one year period.

The McGill University research team is led by Dr. Eduardo Franco, Director of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and is coordinated by Joseph Tota (PhD candidate). Dr. Franco, a renowned expert on the prevention of cervical cancer and HPV-associated diseases, has published over 300 scientific articles and spoken at over 300 conferences worldwide.

“The CATCH study is a major initiative to determine if using a carrageenan-based gel can prevent the acquisition and transmission of HPV in a real world setting,” explained Dr. Franco. “I’m extremely encouraged by the results of the laboratory studies by Dr. John Schiller’s team at the National Cancer Institute. If the trial is successful, it would mean that women have another option for protecting themselves against HPV, the causative agent for cervical cancer.”

Sex, Aging and Lubricants (Yes, They Do Go Together)

The most comprehensive U.S. study on sexual health and behavior helps shed light on the topic of sexual lubricants. Nearly 6,000 participants ages 14 to 92 were surveyed using Knowledge Networks, an online research company the response showed a trend.

Need For A Lubricant

The study found that nearly one-third of women reported experiencing pain during the most recent sexual encounter. Researchers expect this was due to vaginal dryness. There are a few reasons for this and one is that enough time wasn’t spend on foreplay for arousal.

“We need to pay better attention to women’s experiences of pain and discomfort during sex, including how sex can be modified through communication, foreplay, positioning or product use to improve comfort and pleasure,” said Dr. Herbenick.

Mature Sex

Another surprise  was condom use generally declines with age, with a rapid decrease after age 50. About 25 percent of people in their 40s reported using condoms, down to 14 percent of those in their 50s.

Mature individuals may experience sexual difficulties and yet want to enjoy sex.

Help may come from water-based lubricants made with natural ingredients like carrageenan such as Divine 9 which is ideal a vaginal moisturizer. Lubricants have the magical qualities to stop the detrimental effects of aging that dampens a women’s desire. It can counteract vaginal dryness, and some recent studies going on at McGill University suggest Divine 9 may offer protection from some sexually transmitted HPV, the cause of cervical cancer.

Sexual activity is good for a whole range of different aged consumers. As one matures, the need for natural ways to help make the connections between holistic and enjoyable sex is critical. Age alone shouldn’t inhibit the need and enjoyment of sex.

Men and Women Different Loving Styles 1

Men and women different loving styles are evolution at work. The one difference between men and women is exposed during and after the sex act.

Research

In a new study entitled “Sex Differences in Post-Coital Behaviors in Long –and-Short Term Mating An Evolutionary Perspective,” which will be published in The Journal of Sex Research the different loving styles of men and women showed up.

“The vast Majority of the research on the evolutionary psychology of human reproduction focuses on what’s before and leading up to sexual intercourse,” says Susan Hughes, associate professor of psychology at Albright College in Reading, Pa and the author of the study. “But reproductive strategies don’t end with intercourse; they may influence specific behaviors directly following sex.”

Facts exposed

The message is most people need a manual on how the opposite sex reacts to being close to another human. From an evolutionary stand point, each sex acts according to the programming installed. A woman wants to share and be shown care, men want to reward themselves with a smoke, drink, or continuing sexual activity.

Women place a greater importance on intimacy and bonding with their partner at the time. This means that intimate talking, kissing, cuddling and caressing are important activities. There are reasons for these differences.

Women want to secure the relationship. Women also will use intimate talking and discussing the relationship before intercourse to insure commitment and investment from her partner.

Men have a different prospective when engaging in the sex act. They are there from an evolutionary standpoint to spread the seed to ensure that the species continues.

The Pickle Jar Theory

The man’s job is to impregnate a female; the female’s job is to get a mate to help raise the offspring. The men want the women to crave pickles in other words become pregnant, and the women wants the man to be around to bring the pickles.

We know most men aren’t looking to impregnate a female and take on all the responsibility. However, in the distant past the man may have been long gone from the camp grounds when the female knew something was up.

It is important to be aware of the differences so you can realistically manage your priorities. None of the unexpected actions will baffle you. While a man may want to take flight and you may want to chat and engage him, you do not have to be sticky or needed to get results.

The most important thing for women is to not be timid, carefully prepare for your encounter by engaging in open dialog. Men like to move on, but they also need to be close and bond with another person.

Sex Life Influenced by BPA

When you think of sex life influences BPA (Bisphenol-A) isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, a five-year study of factory workers has linked poor sperm quality to food and drinks, in cans, plastic bottles, and other products.

The study of 514 factory workers in China, conducted by investigators from the research division of Kaiser Permanente, a leading US provider of health care and not-for-profit health plans, reported an adverse association between BPA and semen quality. .

Lead author Dr.De-Kun Li, a reproductive and perinatal epidemiologist at Kaiser Permanent’s Division of Research in Oakland, California and colleagues,  have also found that exposure to high levels of BPA at work increased risk of reduced sexual function in men.

Li said the findings may point to problems beyond the male reproductive system: semen quality and male sexual dysfunction could be an early sign of disease. These would include both metabolic conditions as well as cancer.

So making sure you stay young and healthy  may be a matter of where your food is stored.  The future of foods may hold the key to the future of your sex life. It looks like your libido is a function of modern day living. Beverages in bottles, and canned foods may be the reason for a low sperm count and a poor sex life.

Among the men who work with BPA, the risk of having difficulty ejaculating was seven times greater than in the non-exposed group. The risk of erectile problems was more than four times greater. The BPA exposed group also reported a higher rate of a low sex drive.

Remember,  these men were exposed to BPA Epoxy resin used in the lining of canned foods which is another source of BPH in addition to plastics. The findings are consistant with the hypothesis that BPA, can minic the effects of estogen and may block male sex hormones (including testosterone).  Animal studies have also shown this effect.

The factory workers in China were exposed to a much larger dose then we would get from the bottles, cans, and other goods, but it still shows that consumers are in danger. We use BPA plastic bottles, canned foods, and other plastics that are capable over time of exposing us to a substancial amount.of BPA. We have been using these products  for a long enough time for it to have exposed most of the population to enough for some concern.

The unwanted side effects of BPA are a clear and present danger. BPA shows up in the urine of boys. We may be counteracting the normal hormonal balance in boys.

We know diet, stress, and hormones affect sexual drive and function. Modern living is sometimes accompanied by unwanted side effects. Staying clear of BPA is not as easy as one would like. Consumers are exposed to plastics in so many products that it doubtful that there is a comfortable recommended level that can be guaranteed safe.

Since we think that technology will solve all our problems, this is one that may present enormous opportunity and usher in an era of new breakthroughs in alternative reproductive techniques.

Tips for Having Great Sex

Almost everyone wants to have great sex. Yet, unless you are young and in good shape this may not be the case. Sex is an endurance sport in many ways. It is a mix of the physical, mental, and spiritual.

Definition of Great Sex

The definition of great sex will be different for everyone. Some people include romance, love, and lust. What dominates the conversation for one person will just be background sound to another.

For some a great sexual encounter is in the technique and sensations. For another it is the length of the session. But, the one prevailing perspective is no matter how you define it without stamina, energy, technique, and a powerful experience you will not wake up the next day fully satisfied.

What increase your chances for a great sexual encounter are the strength of the erection and the orgasmic ability of both parties. All sex is a product of energy.

Age

The sexual vigor of men in their teens and early to late forties starts to dwindle. For long lasting sexual ability, there are some great exercises that would bring renewed function.

They say sex is all in your mind. However, the machine that makes it happen is your body. Mental sex may be fantasy fun, but for real results you need to be able to carry it out. The link between libido and fitness is real.

Age doesn’t slow you down as much as lack of physical activity. Exercise helps prepare your body for better sexual performance. Not only will exercise help increase your sexual performance it also builds cardiovascular and physical fitness.

Types of Exercise for Men

Aerobic exercise such as jogging, swimming, cycling, or even stair-climbing helps with libido and performance. Aerobic exercise should be any where from 20 to 30 minutes at a time three times a week.

Weights will develop chest muscles which in tern support your arms and shoulder muscles. Bench presses are good for this.

Working your abdominals keep the strength up for endurance. Crunches are what work and it is recommended that you start with three sets of 10 reps, and work up from there. This is the formula to strengthen and lengthen under the sheet action.

Push-ups are a good work out for muscles that are essential for good sex. Shoulders as well as arm strength are important.

Types of Exercise for Women

The types of exercise for women should be ones that boost endurance, and build leg muscles. For women exercise present integrated solutions. One it supports backside muscles and at the same time helps with image.

This makes one feel sexier when one looks good. Women want to build both self esteem, while optimizing there flexibility, and strength. Aerobic exercise helps with endurance and performance.

Any pelvic exercise that offers support for that region will help. Dexterity comes from lean muscle, and virtually all tissues, and joints. To demonstrate the energy and vitality it means depending on the extrinsic strength of youthful vigor. Besides improved visual aesthetics the basic molecular and physiological components are in place.

Men and women

For both men and women there is some confusion about health and sex. Rejuvenating sleep helps the body and enhances both performance and allows the body to recover faster. Great sex like anything good is interwoven and dependent on many components. Retaining the ability for a hot sex life means the biological properties that help generate and unleash the wonderful feelings remain in good working order. Modern living with all its inherent stresses depletes the internal stores of energy and nutrients.

People are looking for natural ways to have the ultimate experience, without prescriptions. Temporary products can’t replace the connection between health and sex. Along with phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids comes an enhanced sex life.

Sexual Lubricants Delivers

A sexual lubricant delivers higher rates of pleasurable and satisfying sex.

Sexual lubricants are something you can trust to transform your experience and at the same time offer protection from sexually transmitted diseases.

An Indiana University study involving 2,453 women ages 18 to 68 found that lubricate use during sexual activity alone or with a partner contributed to higher ratings of pleasurable and satisfying sex.
Personal lubricants have long been recommended to women to improve the comfort of sexual intercourse and to reduce the risk of vaginal tearing, yet strikingly little available data is available on women’s use of lubricants or associated vaginal symptoms.

The study, conducted by Debby Herbenick, associate director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at IU’s School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, involved women who used one of six different water- or silicone-based lubricants.

The study participants strongly endorsed the notion that lubricant use improved the sexual experience; in more than 70 percent of sexual encounters, women indicated that using lubricants made sex feel very pleasurable and more comfortable (65.5 percent).

Harness the power of lubricants when searching for more pleasure.  Sex Lubes seem to optimize both the experience and reaction to the encounter. Imagine that to have the most powerful sexual experience you need the right tools. It now seems that sexual lubricants should be thought of first when looking to have a performance based experience.

This is the one option that is well worth the costs. Waiting to use a lubricant such as Devine 9 is missing an opportunity to escape the ordinary and dip into the extrodiary.

Ovarian Cancer – The Facts You Need to Be Aware Of

By M. Mitchell

The leading cause of death from genital malignancies in women is ovarian cancer. It accounts for almost 4% of all cancer deaths in women although not the highest incidence among reproductive tumors. Over time, the mortality rates have increased, this is most likely because of lack of early detection methods. Caucasian women show higher incidence rates of ovarian cancer than African-American women.

The cause of ovarian cancer is not known. The risk factors includes age, women older than 40 years old; Family history, also heredo-familial disease can be a major risk factor; null parity, a woman who has not given birth to an infant capable of survival; history of infertility; history of dysmenorrhea; and the use of ovulation-stimulating medications increase the risk that the p53 which is a tumor suppressor gene to mutate.

Most of these types of cancer are epithelial, although some are adenocarcinomas which are tumors that arise from glandular structures, which mostly are a component of most organs of the body. Ovarian cancer tends to spread and grow silently until manifestations such as pelvic pressure felt on adjacent organs or abdominal distention tends to occur that is when the woman should seek medical care. During which these pressure-related manifestations occur, the malignancy has usually spread to the uterus, ligaments as well as to the fallopian tubes. Also, they tend to spread to the nearby organs and associated structures. The usual routes of metastasis for this cancer are lymphatic tissues, through the blood which is hemetogenous, through the local extension and peritoneal seeding. The cancer may also invade the bowel, liver and other neighboring organs. Aggressive metastasis has occurred when the pelvic blood vessels are already involved.

There are clinical manifestations of ovarian cancer. These are urinary frequency and urgency, pleural effusion, increase in abdominal girth, weight loss accompanied by malnutrition, ascites associated with dyspnea (difficulty breathing), pain caused by the pressure from the growing tumor and also from the effects of bowel obstruction, constipation and most of all general severe pain. As we all know, Pain is subjective. This means that whenever the person says they are experiencing severe pain that is what their experiences are and should be addressed.

The indicators usually do not appear until the malignancy is already established although sometimes not until it has already spread. Sometimes the malignancy is being diagnosed at an earlier stage, although most affected individuals may eventually have terminal cancer due to late diagnosis for the reason that it is asymptomatic.

Before a woman gets too alarmed about possibly having this type of cancer gather the facts and address it in a logical, informed way.Consult your physician and give him or her all of the symptoms and move forward in determining the proper diagnosis.

Mark Mitchell is an obsessed researcher of health products, services, and information and his knowledge can be of great benefit to your health. If you feel you have symptoms of ovarian cancer click here http://ovarian-cyst-removal.org to get some concrete answers and a possible treatment plan.

Fear or Fact? Cervical Cancer and the HPV Vaccine

By Angela Perin

Unless you’ve been living in isolation for the past 1 – 2 years, you would have found it almost impossible to avoid hearing about the risk of cervical cancer, and the two new HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccines (Gardasil and Cervarix) that have now been introduced as a prevention strategy against this disease.

In a revolutionary age where media campaigning has tremendous power and potential to infiltrate thinking and ideas on national and global scales, distinguishing fact from emotion becomes a confronting, yet subtle dilemma.

The platform for the introduction of these 2 new HPV vaccines onto the worldwide market has been on the basis of the threat and risk of cervical cancer, and has presented the same dilemma to potential recipients of these vaccines.

The problem is, although facts are a far more logical basis on which to make such a decision, emotion is often a far more powerful motivator for action or compliance in situations where health is the prime factor. And in this situation, the fear of cervical cancer has formed a very solid basis for the HPV vaccine campaigns.

There’s certainly no question that cervical cancer disease ‘can” and ‘does‘ have serious (sometimes fatal) outcomes. However equally so, ‘any”medical procedure, artificial drug, pharmaceutical product or vaccine by its very nature also carries with it varying degrees of risk – both temporary and permanent. This includes the HPV vaccines.

The unfortunate truth is that the bulk of media campaigning and information disseminated to the public has avoided, disguised or cleverly side-stepped pointing out the facts and health risks associated with the actual vaccines, which to date have included (but are not limited to): loss of consciousness, paralysis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, hospitalisation, permanent disability and death.

The questions any female or parent (of daughters) considering this vaccine needs to ask themselves are these:

  • ‘Is’ cervical cancer as widespread and as serious a health risk as portrayed in media campaigns and by our health authorities?
  • Is it merely coincidence that solid media campaigns against cervical cancer disease have been hand-in-hand with the introduction of these vaccines?
  • Have all the facts regarding all the risks of both the disease and the vaccine been accurately revealed?

The challenge for any potential recipient, is in identifying the true facts about the risk of cervical cancer versus the associated risks and benefits of the vaccine. Unfortunately, many recipients of these vaccines have based their decision on limited information provided in media campaigning that has ignored ‘all’ the facts – resulting in decisions made on emotion rather than sound logical judgment.

Tragically in many cases, the associated health risks of the vaccine has resulted in more devastating and irreversible outcomes than an actual cervical cancer diagnosis. As challenging as it might be, you owe it to yourself to research the facts before deciding whether or not these vaccines are of benefit, and whether these benefits outweigh any potential risks.

By basing your decision on fact, not fear, – your decision will be an informed one, and the one that’s right for you in your individual situation. Whatever you decide, make it an informed one.

Fireworks under the Covers

I guess that would sum up what some people expect from sex. Ignited passions, that light up the night. These are the things movies are made of. This isn’t always the case with mere mortals. People perform the act stoned, drunk, and while exhausted.

Now it seems that there are times, at the beginning of a relationship when this seems to be the norm. Even in the films fill of passionate embraces, these are usually people who are first discovering their lust for each other. Very few films follow the couple for at least ten years.

It takes effort to keep the match lit, let alone send off sparks until the wee hours of the morning. What most people are looking for at this stage is to connect, enjoy, and get it on. It is still good, but the night sky isn’t usually going to light up.

Then what makes sex so good past the firework stage? The need for it still exists; the attraction is still there, the closeness is probably even better than at the beginning. The expectations are there, but there is some reality that is in place. The sparks are already in place, igniting them a little work.
